THE MARKET REWARDS CHROMATECH ULTRA

The attention of all, central governments, public and private administrations and consumers is increasingly being focused on the progressive availability of new energy sources. In turn, the so-called Energy efficiency plays an important role in maintaining energy costs low and in protecting the environment. The term expresses the attempt made in the prevention of waste and useless consumption, as well as strict efforts to improve the performance of all the devices that use energy to assure the wellbeing and comfort that are part and parcel of our living standards today.

Buildings and residences are without a doubt among the first and most important energy productivity factors: remember it has been proven that a minimum of 25% and a maximum of 40% (and more in a worst case scenario) of indoor heat is lost to the atmosphere through windows. Consequently there is a very high margin for improvement possible, enough to justify all efforts of specialized companies and builders who are contending not just to adapt to new and always more restrictive standards in construction, but also to anticipate the results that will become obligatory in the next few years.

For years Glass Alliance has made warm-edge technologies one of the most prestigious feathers in its cap. Its most outstanding results are today featured in a new type of I.G. glass profile, Chromatech Ultra, officially presented by Rolltech in the 2008 Glasstec show. This new profile presents a double structure of stainless and polycarbonate steel, guaranteeing the solidity and durability of the metal, combined with the low thermal U value typical of plastic materials. The interest generated by this new product at the time it was introduced was decidedly notable: for this reason we wanted to hear from the Sales Director of Rolltech, Johnny Holm, about the kind of reception that Chromatech Ultra has received in the market.

Mr. Holm, could you tell us about the performance of the new Chromatech Ultra in the first months?

Production began in the month of September 2008, so that we could be ready with the first deliveries at the time of the official presentation at Glasstec. In fact we are already satisfying requests from producers of insulating glass from over 20 countries.

What were the first comments from clients who received the new product?

Responses have been overwhelmingly positive, regarding how easy it is to work with, as well as the perfect results from folding it, with resistant and optimum quality angles. We emphasize that a special or expensive machine is not needed. The results are excellent even with machines normally used to fold aluminum profiles. And in terms of price, this translates into a great advantage for the processors.

What versions is Chromatech Ultra currently available in?

Right now production is focused on three different sizes: 12, 16 and 20 millimeters. Very soon we will begin production in 10 mm. as well, and in September we will have a complete range from 10 to 20 millimeters.

And as for the range of colors?

The final choice of colors available will be Black (RAL 9004), Light Gray (RAL 7035) and Window Gray (RAL 7040).

Is Chromatech Ultra planned to replace your Chromatech and Chromatech Plus products, which have been extremely successful over the past five years?

I don’t think the correct word is replacement, for every one of our high quality products offers a specific function: it is up to the client to choose the ideal product for his/her particular needs.
