The decline in the growth rate of global trade and its instability in individual macro-economic areas points to a scenario of very slow growth, if not recession, until the Spring of 2012. For some months now, the robust recovery (following the crisis of Autumn 2008), has been waning, and estimates for future orders now point to a period of stagnation, even in those countries with emerging economies.
It’s impossible for the world of glass not to feel the effects of the global economic situation and gear up to face the coming months with caution and prudence. Fenzi, with a vast sales network around the world and nine manufacturing units strategically located in areas that have consistently favored manufacturing and in others that have been recently developed, is expecting (and hopes for) a new, albeit slow recovery and a mid-term future of continued, though limited, growth.
At Vitrum 2011 we are celebrating our first 70 years with the devoted and friendly participation of many, many business partners from around the world, and we are counting on the next 70 years, within the framework of the recurring cycles, the “stop and go” behavior, of the economy over the long term, to be just as good for us and for all of our clients with whom we work in mutual respect and appreciation.
Technological advances have led and will always lead us to make our products more valuable, more efficient, with superior performance, and special emphasis on environmental concerns. The world of renewable resources, in which the glass universe has consistently been involved, already sees us on the front line with high profile solutions and will serve as a stimulus for the near future and steer our research and development toward extremely reliable products. The world is constantly evolving, as is the glass market. Our challenge for the next 70 years is to continue to be as successful as we have been until now, in tracking its developments and meeting its needs, with professionalism, dedication and (hopefully) success.

  • THE ROLE OF HOT-MELT SEALANTS IN REVERSE DUAL SEAL IG DESIGN (FOAM SPACER)

The important factors to consider when selecting a hot melt sealant are mechanical properties, ease of application and moisture vapour transmission rates (MVTR). However when an IG design takes advantage of the reverse dual seal concept the priorities for the requirements of sealants take a slight turn in the sense that the MVTR and ease of application becomes more of a focal point over the mechanical properties. Foam spacers with its low thermal conductivity and its ease of use have become a huge hit in the residential IG industry. The manufacture of such a high quality product is with the help of a very unique reverse dual seal design...
