Butylver standard

Primary sealant for high-quality insulation glass units

Butylver Standard, Premium PIB-Based Primary Sealant for High-Quality Insulation Glass Units

Butylver Standard is a primary sealant that serves as the first barrier for internal insulation (Butyl) in insulating glass systems. Made from polyisobutylene (PIB), it is a single-component, solvent-free solution designed to seal spacer edges effectively, preventing moisture ingress and gas escape. Renowned for its high stability, extensive compatibility, and versatility across various IGU configurations, Butylver also holds CEKAL certification.
  • Outstanding features
  • Certificates and Accreditations
  • Compliance with international standards

Outstanding features

  • Exceptional resistance to water vapor and gases, ensuring long-term protection.
  • Strong adhesion to glass and spacers, promoting reliable sealing.
  • Superior UV resistance and color stability in outdoor settings.
  • Zero shrinkage, maintaining structural integrity over time.
  • Very low thermal conductivity (0.2 W/mK, EN 10077-2) for enhanced energy efficiency.
  • Offers high shear resistance to prevent glass panes from sliding during handling after the sealing process in IGU manufacturing.
  • Minimizes cold-flow movement towards visible window areas, ensuring a clean and visually appealing finish.

Certificates and Accreditations

Compliance with international standards

Butylver fulfils requirements of the following International Standards:

* EN 1279-2  (Insulating Glass Unit - Moisture Penetration requirements)
* EN 1279-3  (Insulating Glass Unit - Gas Leakage Rate and Gas Concentration requirements)
* EN 1279-4  (Insulating Glass Unit - Physical attributes of edge seal components)
* EN 15804   (EPD - Environmental Product Declaration)

* ASTM E2189-10 (Resistance to Fogging in Insulating Glass)
* ASTM E2190-10 (Insulating Glass Unit Performance)

Application guidelines

Before application, it's crucial to thoroughly clean and dry the surfaces, ensuring they're free of any dust or grease. Heating the Butylver sealant to temperatures between 120°C to 150°C is essential prior to its application using extruders. This meticulous preparation process is vital for maximizing the sealant's adhesion and performance, thereby ensuring a secure and long-lasting seal in insulating glass systems.
